Winter styles and trends I am loving right now

Winter is here and what better time to chat trends, styles and how to put outfits together to create stylish, warm and cosy outfits.

What I'm loving is that there aren't too many overt trends as in things that can't be worn for the next few Winters because it's a one and done type of vibe. No wacky colours or out there styles and as someone who doesn't usually jump on the trend bandwagon, preferring classic styles, I am liking this.

Let's get into it.

Chocolate brown

Richer and more vibrant than ordinary brown according to my research - make of that what you will. You can't deny the colour is everywhere and it's perfect for Winter. It has been around for most of the year, growing in prominence and it's not going anywhere.

It might be a trend now but it's also classic and neutral enough to be worn even when it's not considered on trend anymore and more a wardrobe staple.

When styling brown, don't worry if the browns aren't exactly the same shade. You don't want it to be too matchy matchy anyway. You can also mix it with black, white and cream or tan as well as a pop of colour if that's more your thing.

While we're talking colour, merlot/burgundy is still very much everywhere.

Funnel neck jacket

It's a statement neckline, structural and I love it. There are lots of bomber style jackets with this higher neckline as well as cropped trench coats. Some bombers also have  drawstrings at the waist so you can tighten and tuck, tailoring the length to suit you. Other cropped jackets I've seen around are suede and of course faux fur.

Collared cardigans

Cardigans with a collar is a cool reworking of the traditional look. Some have a zip and others with buttons. I do love the two zip look where you can unzip from the top and bottom, having it sitting undone on the top of pants or skirts, showing as much or as little skin as you like.

Pants

Of course the barrel leg and wider leg jeans aren't going anywhere and we're not only seeing jeans in blue and black but brown (of course) and other neutrals. We've gone back to the 90s and 2000s seeing pants with stripes down the side.

There's also the satin lace combo still doing the rounds which gives me pyjama vibes when you wear it as a matching set, but combine a pretty and feminine satin and lace trimmed skirt with a chunky knit and boots which is more edgy, it's a fabulous contrast and a perfect Winter look.

Having just discussed trends for however many hundred words, you can always rely on the classic styles to get you through Winter. I'm talking about jeans and a blazer, jeans and a chunky jumper or a good old collarless cardigan, skirt, knit and boots, finished off with a coat - call those your failsafe Winter looks.

And if you think your Winter wardrobe is missing classic pieces or some on trend items to help you create outfits you feel confident in, get in touch. I would love to help you build a wardrobe that works for you.
